Shooting the Moon

By: Frances O’Roark Dewell.

The story is about a girl named Jamie and her brother went to Vietnam. She thinks it is so cool until her brother sends pictures so she can print then.  Her dad is coronel in the army and her friend from the center   said he might have to join the army. So she asks her dad if he cannot sign his form. Her dad thinks about it. She likes to play cards with her friend.

One of the most memorable moments is when her brother TJ sends photos of people in bandages with blood stains.

This book is good for people who like big print.

I give this book an excellent review.

If you like books on Vietnam then you will like this one.

Hope you enjoy it!

Puppy Love

My review is about the book Puppy Love, by Jenny Dale. This  book  is  about  the  Parker  family  rescuing  a  poor lost puppy  and it’s love at first sight. So they named it Digger. There’s a “Compton Beast” on the loose. The mystery is who or what is it, and will Digger be okay?

One most memorable moment was when Emily rescued Digger from the hole and took him home.

This book is just right for someone who loves animals and mysteries. The recommendation I give this book is great.

I gave this book this recommendation because it was really good, exciting and interesting.

I really enjoyed this book because it makes you want to keep reading and reading, also because it’s really entertaining. Lastly, it’s one of those books where you don’t want to quit on it.

Candy Floss

My book review is called”Candyfloss”, the author is Jacqueline Wilson and this is a fictional chapter book.

This book is about a girl named Flora A.K.A Flossie, her parents are divorced, her mom got married to a man named Steve, and they had a boy named Tim but everyone calls him “Tiger”. On the weekdays she lives with her mom, on the weekend she lives with her dad. Floss’s dad has a café called “Charlie’s café” and he is famous for his chip butties, he mostly had customers that are students. But ever since the school started a healthy foods program, everyone joined, Floss’s dad doesn’t have many customers anymore because his chip butties are fried foods. So her dad is very poor and the letter C on the sign outside his café fell down a long time ago so his café is now called “Harlie’s café”. But once Flossie’s mom decides to move to Australia, Floss tried everything to get her mom not to go to Australia but nothing worked when it was almost time to go to Australia-Sydney, Floss refuse to go with her mom at the very last minute and decides to stay with her dad but her dad have nothing since they’ll have to move out of the café soon.

One day when Floss and her dad were at a local funfair, they saw a candy floss stand, the lady inside was really nice to both Floss and her father, her name is Rose. The three of them- Rose, Floss and dad became really great friends but when Floss found out that her dad and Rose were in love with each other, how will she react to it? Everyday Floss’s life is getting worse, for example: Her best friend Rhiannon doesn’t want to be friends anymore just because she doesn’t have her pretty, red, white and clean bedroom at her mom’s.

How will Floss get through all the changes in her life? What will happen between dad and Rose? You’ll have to read this book to find out!

A read-alike is “Clean Break” also by Jacqueline Wilson. It’s about a girl named Emily, when her parents break up, instead of choosing weather to live with mom or dad, she has to cheer up her little brother and sister.

Piano Lossons Can Be Murder

My review is about Piano Lessons Can Be Murder! By RL Stine.

My book is about a kid named Jerry who moves to a new house far from his old one. At first he thought it would be cool till he found a old piano from then on every night the piano would play by it’s self the same slow sad song. After that he got the piano moved down to the family room (did I say that they found the piano in the attic.) After his mom wants for him to get lessons. Then he meets his teacher Dr. Shreak. He finds there is something creepy about him. Later he hears scary stories about kids who go to his school but never come out.

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS:

When he finds the ghost and when he meets D.R. SHREAK.

This book is just right for  some one who likes horror and books like this are all other Goosebumps. My overall recommendation is great. I think this because it is fun and scary and you never know what will happen next!

Shredderman#2

My book is called Shredderman#2 by Wendelin Van Draanen.

My book is about a boy named Nolan who always gets bullied at school. So one day he says to himself I’ve had enough. Then another day he thought and thought and then he came to a conclusion. I can build a website that shows the bullies in action! My website will be called SHREDDERMAN!!! So after a few months of catching bullies in action Nolan A.K.A  Shredderman finds out there is a tagger in town! Shredderman is striving to catch the tagger but he’s so sly and fast. Then Nolan makes a plan. DAY ONE- MAKE THE TAGGER MAD!!!!! The plan was to email the tagger and tell him only a real tagger would tag Dr. Voss the principal’s car!!! Then Nolan would sneak to school early and hide in yesterday’s leaf bags. He would disguise himself and catch the tagger in action with his secret camera then would post it on the Internet!!

The most funniest moments is when Nolan posts Bubba’s body and changes it into a chicken body!!!!  I also loved it when Nolan cought the tagger in action. My most all time favourite is when Nolan got put onto the leaf truck(since he was in the leaf bag but no one noticed him) and all of a sudden he jumped off the truck while it was moving!!!!

This book is just right for someone who enjoys funny, mysterious and excitingment on every page because the author writes it so good. I recommend this book because you want to keep on reading on and on!!!!!And if you read Shredderman #1 YOU WILL LOVE #2!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading. Hope you read SHREDDERMAN#2 (and #1 if you have not already)!

Dear Dumb Diary(Am i the princess or the frog?)

My book review is called “Dear Dumb Diary (Am I the princess or the frog?)”, by Jamie Kelly and Jim Benton. This is a Fictional Chapter book.

This book is about a girl named Jamie Kelly, she goes to Mackerel Middle School and her best friend is Isabella. One day the cafeteria monitor-Miss Bruntford tasted the school’s meatloaf, and got very sick. So the school got a new cafeteria monitor named –Mr. Prince, also they will not be serving meatloaves anymore. When Jamie first saw Mr. Prince she fell in love with him, but someone else kept sending love notes to Jamie. It’s up to Jamie to find out who!

Some of the funniest moments in the book were:

1. When Jamie’s at the zoo, a 3-year old boy fed a peanut to the back of her head because he thought that her hair was a monkey. That time Jamie knew she has “The World’s Worst Hair”.

2. When Jamie caught her mom trying to force her “MomButt” into a old and tiny miniskirt, her mom told her that she could throw apples at passing cars if she would leave that room.

3. When Jamie combined her head with Mr. Prince’s head together, it kind of creeps me out a bit, but it’s still very funny. :)

I think this book is just right for someone who enjoys: all comedy books, a bit of mystery and “Ellie McDoodle” series.

My overall recommendation for this book is – Excellent because this book is REALLY, REALLY funny and it’s got lots of awesome pictures too! Also it’s a just right book for me! ;)

I think the closest “read-alike” would be the “Ellie McDoodle” series because in that series it’s about a girl who keeps a journal which is kind of like a diary and lots of interesting adventures with Ellie! :)

Dear Dumb Diary

This book is called Dear Dumb Diary .  The author of the story/diary is Jim Benton. The book is a fictional chapter book. The summary of the story is about a girl named Jamie Kelly. Her mom bought her a new pair of popular jeans. All of a sudden her new pants get a giant hole in them. Jamie thought her pants might be haunted. She also thought her pants made her taste kiwi shampoo to see if it tastes as good as it smells, watch a 20 minute commercial about a chicken rooster and many more things.

A memorable moment is when Jamie used her makeover styles to turn Frankenstein, the wolf man, and a mummy into girls! Another memorable moment is when Jamie’s best friend Isabella turned Margret beautiful because Margret used to eat pencils. EWW!

A person who would like this book is a person who likes lots of comedy, lots of excitement, and a bit of mystery.

My overall recommendation is excellent because its the most funniest, most exciting book I have ever read, and because it has funny pictures and words. I haven’t read Diary of a Wimpy Kid yet but I bet it’s similar.

The Royal Diaries Of Anastasia

This book is called The Royal Diaries Of Anastasia by Kathryn Lasky. It’s a historical fiction chapter book. This book is about the lost duchess Anastasia and how she deals with living in a palace and her father the king of Russia moving away and her brother having a horrible disease. It shows how at the beginning of the book she was very happy but as the book moves on her life gets more and more unhappier.

Some of the most memorable moments were when Anastasia’s brother Alexi got permission to go away with their father even though he has a disease that’s dangerous. It was also memorable when Anastasia and her family were lied to by bad people and taken away.

This book is just right for someone who enjoys history and is curious about what life used to be like for royal people. My overall recommendation for this book is excellent.

I gave it this recommendation because since it’s a diary it shows every move and is very detailed. It also gives you something to think about and to compare to your life now. A read-alike would be the book Marie Antoinette from the royal diaries series.
